Uwielbiamy, a jednocześnie nienawidzimy tej przedziwnej mocy, która za każdym razem pcha nas do przodu mimo, że wydaje nam się, że nie mamy już na nic sił. Zion National Park był miejscem, gdzie na każdym kroku walczyliśmy, aby wykrzesać z siebie jeszcze więcej. Do parku, który oferuje coś zupełnie odmiennego niż wszystkie inne, jechaliśmy z nadzieją przeżycia wielkiej przygody. To tutaj, oprócz porywających widoków, skalistych urwisk, przepięknych formacji skalnych poprzecinanych bujną roślinnością, jest coś więcej. To tutaj można zmierzyć się ze sławnym szlakiem The Narrows, czyli odbyć wędrówkę między pionowymi skałami kanionu idąć w nurcie rwącej rzeki Virgin River.

We love and hate at the same time the strange power that every time pushes us forward even though it seems to us that we have no strength for anything. Zion National Park was the place where on every step we struggled to muster much more. We was driving to the park, which offers something completely different than all others, with the hope of survival a great adventure. It's here besides beautiful views, rocky cliffs, beautiful rock formations intersected by lush vegetation is something more. It is here that you can deal with the famous The Narrows trail, which is held between the vertical hike the canyon cliffs reaching the mainstream of rushing Virgin River.
Pierwsze wrażenie po przyjeździe do parku nie było najlepsze. Był ogromny problem z zaparkowaniem auta. Wszystko to spowodowane tym, że po terenie można poruszać się tylko autobusem. Musieliśmy zaparkować 10 minut drogi pieszo od bramy parku. Ponieważ do Zion przyjechaliśmy z nastawieniem obejrzenia The Narrows, niewiele czekając wsiedliśmy do autobusu, który zatrzymując się po niezliczonych przystankach okraszonych wydobywającym się z głośników komentarzem, dowiózł nas po 40 minutach do Temple Of Sinawava - punktu, z którego można było udać się na 15-minutowy spacer utwardzoną scieżką do początku szlaku The Narrows.

The first impression after arriving to the park was not the best. It was a huge problem with parking the car. All this is due to the fact that the area you can only move the bus. We had to park 10 minutes away on foot from the gate of the park. We came to Zion to see The Narrows, so without waiting we got on the bus, which stops along the countless stops. He brought us around 40 minutes to Temple Of Sinawava - a point from which you can enjoy a 15-minute paved walking path to the trail of The Narrows.

Idąc do The Narrows zaczynaliśmy mieć coraz gorsze przeczucie, że specjalnych butów do brodzenia w wodzie nie będzie można wypożyczyć na początku szlaku. Nasze obawy okazały się uzasadnione. Początek szlaku był po prostu utwardzonym zejściem do wody i na tym obecność cywilizacji się kończyła. Widzieliśmy osoby idące w specjalnych wodoodpornych butach, więc stwierdziliśmy, że gdzieś można je jednak wypożyczyć. Czym prędzej wróciliśmy do przystanku autobusowego w ich poszukiwaniu. Sytuacja nie była najlepsza, bo dojazd, długie parkowanie i jeszcze dłuższa jazda autobusem sprawiła, że zrobiło się dość późno, a my nadal nie mieliśmy butów, co więcej nie wiedzieliśmy gdzie je można dostać! Nie było innego wyjścia, musieliśmy wracać do centrum turystycznego zlokalizowanego przy samym wejściu do parku. Autobus w połowie drogi w dół miał przystanek, gdzie było parę sklepików. Zauważyliśmy, że kierowca wyszedł za potrzebą, więc wybiegliśmy z autobusu i podbieglismy do najbliższego stoiska. Na szczęście udało się szybko ustalić, że wypożyczalnia jest w mieście zaraz obok wejścia do parku. Na nasze nieszczęście kosztować nas to będzie powrót autobusem na dół i potem ponownie do góry, łacznie ponad 1,5 godziny jazdy tam i z powrotem. Udało się na szczęście wrócić do autobusu przed kierowcą i tym samym kursem zjechaliśmy do centrum turystycznego. Dość szybko udało się nam znaleźć wypożyczalnię. Dostaliśmy neoprenowe skarpetki i specjalne buty. Dla J. oczywiście nie było rozmiaru, więc musiał zawijać palce. Jak najszybciej opuściliśmy wypożyczalnię. W komplecie były jeszcze kije do podparcia, których A. nie chciała wziąć. Fakt, kij był dość ciężki i niewygodny, ale jak się do niego przyzwyczaiła, to później tak dziarsko z nim pomykała, że nie chciała go na końcu oddać. Gdy wsiedliśmy w końcu do autobusu jadącego w stronę The Narrows, nad parkiem Zion pojawiły się czarne deszczowe chmury. Długo nie trzeba było czekać, aby zaczęło z nich padać, a po chwili już tak lało, że ludzie dosiadający się na przystankach żartowali z tego, czy nikt nie chciałby wysiąść, bo taka ładna pogoda. Trochę nas ten deszcz wybił z rytmu, ale w sumie czemu taki deszcz miałby nam przeszkodzić? W końcu i tak mieliśmy iść rzeką, więc i tak bylibyśmy mokrzy. A no tak, zagrożenie powodzią, to może nam przeszkodzić. Mimo, że poranne komunikaty o zagrożniu powodziowym mówiły, że jest ono niskie, to z głośników w autobusie, co 5 minut słyszeliśmy, że ci, którzy idą szlakiem The Narrows, muszą pamiętać, że "Remember! Your safety is your responsibility!" (Pamiętaj, sam odpowiadasz za swoje bezpieczeństwo!). Gdy wyruszaliśmy na szlak, cały czas kapało z nieba. Zdecydowaliśmy, że jeśli pogoda będzie się pogarszać, to po prostu zawrócimy po kilkunastu minutach. Na nasze szczęście, po około 10 minutach rozpogodziło się i tym samym rzeka Virgin pokazała swoje prawdziwe piękne oblicze. Początkowo brodzenie w wartkim nurcie rzeki szło dość ciężko, jednak szybko złapaliśmy rytm i poczuliśmy jedność z rzeką. Szczególnie A. czuła się jak ryba w wodzie. J. musiał zatrzymywać się i robić zdjęcia, ale A. dziarsko szła przed siebie, pochłonięta wymarzoną przygodą. Wykorzystaliśmy maksymalnie czas, który nam został do zamknięcia wypożyczalni. Trzeba przyznać, że warto było nie poddawać się przeciwnościom i wytrwać w postanowieniu, że chcemy pojść szlakiem The Narrows. Niestety, cały szlak wymaga wyruszenia z samego rana, więc nam udało się przejść tylko jego część, ale na pewno kiedyś jeszcze tam wrócimy!

While going to the beginning of Narrows trail we have started to have feeling that special shoes for wading in the water can not be hired at the beginning of the trail. Our fears were justified. The trail beginning was just paved descent to the water and there weren't anything else . We saw people moving in these special shoes so they can be hired somewhere . We quickly went back to the bus station searching shoes rentals. The situation was not the best because all way up to the beginning of The Narrows trail took quite long, and we still did not have shoes! There was no other choice , we had to go back to the tourist center located at the entrance to the park. Bus on halfway down have stopped where there were a few shops. We noticed that the driver came out for the need so we ran out of the bus and we ran to the nearest stand. Luckily we got information that the rental is in town right next to the entrance to the park. Unfortunately for us, it will cost us to go back down and then back up by bus, a total of over 1.5 hours to drive. We were fortunate to get back on the bus before the driver and we been able to returned the same to the tourist center . Pretty soon we have found rental . We got neoprene socks and special boots. For J. , of course, was not the size so he had to wrap his fingers. In the set there were also still sticks to support that A. did not want to take . In fact there were quite heavy and uncomfortable , but after she got used to it she so bravely walk with them that she did not want to give them back after walk. When we got bus in the direction of The Narrows , around the Zion appeared black rain clouds . After a while it started raining. A little rain inside us is out of tune , but all in all that the rain would stop us ? But we still had to go river so and so would be wet . And oh yeah , the threat of flooding , it can stop us . When we set off on the trail , it was still raining. We decided that if the weather will be still the same we could simply turn back after a few minutes . Fortunately for us , after about 10 minutes it cleared up and the Virgin River showed their true beautiful face . Initially, wading in swift current of the river was going pretty hard but quickly we caught the rhythm and felt the unity of the river . Particularly A. felt like a fish in water. J. had to stop and take pictures, but A. bravely went ahead absorbed with this dream adventure. We used the maximum time that we have left to the rental closing. We must admit that it was worth it to keep going adversity and persevere in order that we want to follow the trail of The Narrows . Unfortunately, the trail requires a departure in the morning so we managed to go only part of it, so we'll have to go back there sometime .

Rzeka Virgin była pełna niespodzianek, momentami spokojna, momentami nurt przyspieszał, żeby za chwilę zaskoczyć nas jakimś głębszym miejscem. Byliśmy tak pochłonięci tym niezwykłym doznaniem, że dopiero jak oddawaliśmy buty poczuliśmy głód. Na szczęscie mieliśmy już wcześniej upatrzone wstępnie miejsce i oznaczone na naszej mapie. Na obiadokolację odwiedziliśmy
Zion Pizza & Noodle, która słynie z bardzo dobrej pizzy i pasty. A. zamówiła pastę #6 przygotowaną na zielonym delikatnym pesto, natomiast J. postawił ponownie na pizzę. A. do picia wybrała herbatkę. W USA zawsze dziwnie patrzą na nas, jak pytamy o herbatę, szczególnie tą ciepłą, ale trzeba przyznać, że po chwili zwątpienia wyciągają z pod lady drewniane pudełko z kilkunastoma rodzajami całkiem dobrych herbat i wymawiają magiczne: "Here is your tea selection." ("Oto wybór herbat dla Ciebie"). Zjedliśmy, co mieliśmy na talerzach i ruszyliśmy w drogę. Tego dnia musieliśmy odwiedzić jeszcze dwa kolejne stany: Arizonę i Nevadę, gdzie w Las Vegas mieliśmy nocleg. Wyjeżdżając z Utah przypomniało nam się o tym, że nie kupiliśmy magnesu na lodówkę (chcieliśmy mieć po jednym magnesie z każdego stanu). Postój na kilku stacjach benzynowych i sklepach okazał się mało owocny i musieliśmy zadowolić się tym jednym jedynym, który ostał się w sklepie. No cóż, jak to stwierdził jeden pan na stacji benzynowej: "To jest Utah, a niedziela wieczór tutaj w Utah, to nie jest dobry moment na jakiekolwiek zakupy". Po nieco ponad dwóch godzinach byliśmy już w Las Vegas. W drodze do Nevady na drodze, jadąc autostradą międzystanową 15, zahaczyliśmy o Arizonę, więc śmialiśmy się, że tego dnia odwiedziliśmy aż 3 stany. Następnego dnia w planach był już powrót do Kaliforni. Na nasze nieszczęście dostaliśmy w hotelu w Vegas tak wielki apartament, że nie mieliśmy ochoty się z niego ruszać. Ponownie, na koniec dnia padliśmy wykończeni, wciąż rozpaleni przygodą i próbowaliśmy sobie wmówić, że już jutro nigdzie nie pojedziemy.

Virgin River was full of surprises , sometimes calm , sometimes trend accelerated, and after that surprised us with some deeper place . We were so caught up in this unusual sensation that only after we got back shoes we felt hungry. Fortunately we had already selected place and marked on our map. For dinner we visited
Zion Pizza & Noodle , a place with very good pizza and pasta . A. ordered paste # 6 prepared with the delicate green pesto , and J. took the pizza one more time . A. have chosen tea to drink. In the U.S. they are always surprised when we ask for a cup of tea , especially the hot one, but we have to admit that after a moment of doubt they took from under the desk a wooden box with several kinds of very good tea and pronounce the magic : "Here is your tea selection. We had eaten what we had on the plates and hit the road . That day we had to visit two further states : Arizona and Nevada , where in Las Vegas we had overnight. Leaving Utah we reminded about the fact that we did not buy a magnet on the fridge ( we wanted to have one magnet from each state ) . We have stopped at a few gas stations and stores but we had no big choice because there was only one left. Well, as one gentleman said at the gas station , "this is Utah, Sunday evening here in Utah, it's not a good time for any shopping" . After a little over two hours, we came to Las Vegas. On the way to Nevada, traveling Interstate 15 , we hooked up with Arizona , so we laughed that this day we visited three states. The next he was planning to return to California . Unfortunately for us, we got to the hotel in Vegas so much room that we did not want to move the next day. Again, at the end of the day we fell exhausted , still burning with adventure and tried to convince ourselves that tomorrow we will go nowhere .
