Wjeżdżając do Palm Springs nie mogliśmy uwierzyć we wskazania termometru w aucie. 108F około godz. 20:00 - coś musi być nie tak z termometrem. Jednak po wyjściu z auta wszystko stało się jasne- 108F to około 42C i faktycznie, tyle było na dworze. Dodatkowym utrudnieniem, które napotkaliśmy było to, że nigdzie nie mogliśmy znaleźć naszego hotelu. Przejechaliśmy ulicę wzdłóż i wszerz i nic. Jakby zapadł się pod ziemię. W końcu weszliśmy zapytać się, gdzie znajdziemy nasz hotel. Okazało się, że w ciągu ostatniego miesiąca... zmienił nazwę. Zameldowaliśmy się i poszliśmy wcześniej spać- rano czekało na nas śniadanie w knajpie na przeciwko - "U Rick'a". Nielimitowana dolewka kawy i ketchup Heinz sprawiły, że żaden upał nam nie straszny - możemy jechać na pustynię!

When we has been entering Palm Springs could not believe what the thermometer in the car shows. 108F around 8PM - there must be something wrong with the thermometer. However, after leaving the car everything was clear 108F is about 42C, and in fact there was so much on the court. An additional difficulty we encountered was that we could never find our hotel. We have been driving along the street and could not find it. Finally we decided to ask where we can find our hotel. The answer was spectacular - last month it has... changed the name. We checked in and went to bed early - morning breakfast waiting for us in the pub opposite - "Rick's". Unlimited coffee refill and Heinz ketchup made any heat not scary to us - we can go to the desert!

Po około godzinie jazdy od Palm Springs znaleźliśmy się na granicy Parku Narodowego Joshua Tree. W biurze informacji turystycznej nabyliśmy całoroczną kartę wstępu do wszystkich parków narodowych USA. Park Narodowy Joshua Tree słynie z unikalnego gatunku drzewa rosnącego tylko na pustyni Mojave - drzewa Jozuego. W południowej części cieżko było znaleźć jakichkolwiek przedstawicieli tego gatunku, ale w miarę jazdy na północ, było ich coraz więcej. Po drodze odwiedziliśmy tzw. Cactus Garden, zatrzymaliśmy się w kilku punktach widokowych. Z najlepszego z nich - Keys View rozciągał się widok na całą pustynię Mojave. Przy dobrej widoczności widać stąd nawet granicę meksykańską! Skoro już o Meksyku mowa, to w planie obiadowym na dziś - Edchadas - lokal znajdujący się niedaleko północnego wyjazdu z parku narodowego Joshua Tree.

After about an hour drive from Palm Springs, we came to the border of Joshua Tree National Park. At the park office we purchased annual pass for all national parks in the United States. Joshua Tree National Park is famous for its unique species of tree that grows only in the Mojave Desert - The Joshua Tree. In the southern part it was hard to find any example of this species, but as you drive north there were more and more. Along the way we visited cactus garden and we stopped at several viewpoints. The best of them - Keys View gives a view of the entire Mojave Desert. On clear days you can see here even the border of Mexico! Speaking of Mexico, a dinner plan for today - Edchadas - restaurant located at the northern exit of Joshua Tree National Park.

W restauracji ciekawy wystrój, muzyka meksykańska. Zamówienie: ponownie burrito z guacamole. Stwierdziliśmy, że trzeba porównać względem tego z LA. Podane na gorących talerzach wypełnione po brzegi składnikami i chyba jeszcze smaczniejsze niż to, które jedliśmy w LA. Do tego, ponownie pyszna lemoniada. Tym razem załapaliśmy sie na "wielką dolewkę". Nie wiemy, czego dodają tutaj do lemoniady, ale jest ona tak fantastyczna, że nie można się jej oprzeć. Za cały obiad z napiwkiem zapłaciliśmy $28. Trzeba przyznać, że meksykańskie jedzenie wysuwa się zdecydowanie na prowadzenie w kategorii "jak dobrze i tanio zjeść w długiej podróży".

The restaurant has got very interesting interior design and Mexican music. Order: one more time burrito with guacamole. We decide to compare it with the LA. Served on hot plates filled to the shoulder ingredients and perhaps even tastier than the one that we had in LA. For this lemonade like yesterday in Rosco's. This time a "big refill". We do not know what they add to the lemonade here, but it is so fantastic that you can not resist it. Na zegarkach już 17:00, a przed nami jeszcze przejechanie całej pustyni Mojave. Z miasteczka 29 Palms, gdzie jedliśmy obiad, kierujemy się na północ. Mimo, że bardzo się spieszyliśmy, do najważniejszych punktów pustyni Mojave, nie udało się dojechać przed zachodem słońca. Po drodzę mieliśmy okazję przejechać fragmentem sławnej Route 66. Patrząc na to z dobrej strony - mieliśmy okazję podziwiać zachód słońca na pustyni. Rezerwat pustyni Mojave oraz Joshua Tree National Park zrobiły na nas bardzo dobre wrażenie. Olbrzymie przestrzenie, odległości, drogi kończące się za horyzontem i wszechobecna cisza, to wszystko składa się na unikalne doświadczenie, które tym bardziej było nam potrzebne po pobycie w gwarnym LA. Po opuszczeniu rezerwatu pustyni Mojave, pozostała nam jeszcze godzina drogi do światowej stolicy hazardu. Kierunek - Hotel Hilton Grand Vacations na głównej ulicy miasta- The Strip. It's 5:00PM and we still need to pass across the Mojave Desert. From the 29 Palms where we ate lunch we went north. Although we have been hurry the key points in the Mojave Desert, could not be reached before sunset. But we had a chance to ride a fragment of the famous Route 66. Looking on the bright side - we had also the opportunity to watch the sunset in the desert. Reserve in the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park made us a very good impression. Huge spaces, distances, road leading to the horizon and absolute silence, it all adds up to a unique experience that the more we needed after their stay in the bustling LA.
